Infotechnics have been selected by E.ON Ruhrgas to supply their operational reporting and logging system Opralog. The Opralog system will be deployed to the Babbage platform, one of E.ON Ruhrgas Southern North Sea assets.

E.ON Ruhrgas UK E&P Ltd is an upstream company who focus on exploration and production in the UK North Sea. They are part of the E.ON group, the world's largest publicly traded power and gas company.

The Babbage platform is the first gas production platform operated by E.ON Ruhrgas UK E&P Limited. When all production wells are in place, Babbage will have the capacity to produce approximately 2 million cubic meters of natural gas a day.

Explaining the need for Opralog E.ON Controls Engineer John Newton said 'The control room operators have to log events, report on them and communicate any decisions and actions taken. Opralog will allow us to do this in a structured manner which will improve the reporting and communication of key data.'

Speaking of the award Infotechnics Business Development Director, Jon Howard said, 'We are delighted that E.ON Ruhrgas have chosen Opralog for the Babbage platform. Not only will it meet their requirement for an effective logging and reporting tool but there is also the potential for integration with systems such as OSIsoft PI. Opralog can be further developed by E.ON staff for use as a repository for handover check lists, safety meeting information and daily reports and safe cards.'

Jon added 'Part of our corporate strategy this year is to strengthen our presence in the North Sea Oil & Gas industry and the deployment of Opralog to the Babbage platform is a significant step towards achieving this goal.'
