Ikon Science/GeoPressure Technology declares the completion of the Viking Graben Pressure Study and the “Roknowledge” Rock Physics Studies which have been designed to enhance exploration success and reduce drilling risks for North Sea operators and acreage holders.
The Viking Graben Pressure Study comprising over 1300 wells examines the distribution and impact of pressure and overpressures on the North Sea Viking Graben petroleum system. This new study complements the existing North Sea Central Graben Pressure Study, the North Sea Central Graben Salinity Database and the Mid Norway Pressure Study. Together these studies cover the whole North Sea basin and provide detailed regional understanding of the pressure regime giving a comprehensive and authoritative picture of formation pressure distribution, and its causes, providing valuable calibration and context to in-house pressure interpretations.
The Roknowledge - Rock Physics study has been created to enable prediction and interpretation of play detection and prospectivity for lithology and fluids based on detailed petrophysical, rock physics and seismic modelling of wells in the Central North Sea UKCS. The study includes a detailed analysis of 50 key wells in over 38 oil and gas fields across the area. This interpreters’ reference tool provides a convenient and interactive source of data for the modern quantitative seismic interpreter, and other geoscientists with interest in rock properties behaviour.
Both studies are available immediately both as both a large format Atlas and in interactive electronic format. The RokDoc System has been recently extended to provide for extensive pressure analysis capabilities and the data for all studies can also be delivered in RokDoc format to allow for further analysis and integration with existing in-house pressure and rock physics interpretations.
Ikon’s CEO Martyn Millwood Hargrave commented, “Our clients have told us that they need faster and more sophisticated workflows to evaluate new and existing opportunities in the current energy climate. Ikon has responded quickly to this demand to create more effective and robust interpretation tools, studies and workflows that will help create more value and reduce uncertainty. Finding oil starts with understanding the rocks and rock properties and is Ikon’s core business. These new studies will prove to be of immense value to North Sea players”
The release earlier this year of the new RokDoc System illustrated Ikon’s continued commitment to client feedback. The RokDoc System provides predictive interpretation solutions for understanding the effects of fluids, lithology and pressure and providing answers to exploration and development issues.
The RokDoc System includes a new suite of pressure tools, interactive VSP interpretation capabilities, Electro-Magnetic modelling, improved Modelling While Picking tools, revolutionary new Inversion and imaging products and wider 3D/4D functionality; bringing new interpretation tools to the geoscience community.
The studies will be available for review at PETEX 25th-27th November where experts will be on hand to discuss these studies and Ikon Science shall be showcasing their leading rock physics and pressure software products and collaborative services, please visit Ikon Science at booth C19.
