Marine and offshore engineering consultancy Aqualis Offshore has signed a contract to provide position keeping services for the installation of the Ichthys LNG Project FPSO.
Under the contract, Aqualis Offshore will manage the position keeping procedure and provide position keeping masters during the offshore operations. Contract value is undisclosed.
Aqualis Offshore will provide the services as a sub-supplier to POSH Terasea Offshore Pte Ltd, who will manage the towage of the FPSO from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering’s (DSME) Okpo yard in South Korea to the Ichthys field offshore Australia, and the station keeping for the mooring process at the field.
The Ichthys FPSO, which will be 336 metres long, will be permanently moored on a non-disconnectable turret for the life of the project, about 3.5 kilometres from the field’s central processing facility (CPF). INPEX is the operator of the Ichthys LNG Project.
“Managing the position keeping operation for floating facilities is one our core competencies. To be trusted with the position keeping role for the FPSO facility for the Ichthys LNG Project is a true honour. Our experienced mariners cannot wait to get started on working with this project,” Phil Lenox, director – Asia Pacific, Aqualis Offshore.
Aqualis Offshore’s Singapore office will manage and execute the project.
Aqualis Offshore has earlier won the contract to provide position keeping services for the installation of the Ichthys LNG Project CPF.
Aqualis Offshore is a specialised marine and offshore engineering consultancy focusing on the shallow and deep-water segments of the offshore oil and gas industry. It is part of Oslo-listed energy consultancy group Aqualis ASA.
