The life-saving systems on board all five vessels nominated for Ship of the Year 2015 award were delivered by Harding. 'We congratulate the winner Skandi Africa, and are proud to have equipped the Ship of the Year for the second time in three years,' says Bjørn Sturle Hillestad, Global Sales & Marketing Director at Harding.
The shipping journal Skipsrevyen selects a Ship of the Year every year. The award goes to a Norwegian-built vessel that represents innovation, value added and technological advances, and the goal is to acknowledge innovation in Norwegian ship development. This year's awards ceremony took place at the Nor-Shipping trade fair in Oslo, where Skandi Africa was announced as the winner. The other four nominated vessels were Far Sleipner, Island Venture, Viking Neptun and Polar Empress. The first four vessels are large construction vessels, while the latter is a seismic vessel.
One common denominator shared by all five nominees is that Harding has delivered their life-saving systems. The deliveries comprise lifeboats, davits and rescue boats.
