Operator Gassco transported 93.3 billion standard cubic metres (scm) of Norwegian gas to European terminals in the 12 months to 1 October – up by roughly nine billion scm from the 2007 gas year.

The gas year ends and starts on 1 October, about 10 months behind the calendar year, and the 93.3 billion scm covers pipeline deliveries to Germany, Belgium, France and the UK.In addition come 1.1 billion scm of gas delivered for domestic Norwegian consumption and roughly two billion scm for injection in fields on the Norwegian continental shelf.

A central goal for Gassco is to run Norway’s integrated gas transport system with the highest possible regularity, and this averaged 99.81 per cent for the gas year which has now ended.

The processing plants at Kårstø and Kollsnes in western Norway are cornerstones in the transport network, with roughly 70 per cent of Norwegian gas exports passing through them.

"We’ve achieved high plant availability at these two facilities during the past gas year," says Jan Hauge, vice president for product management at Gassco.
