Enerco Venture, an entrepreneurial investment company focused on the oil and gas industry, has been launched to encourage the next generation of oil and gas entrepreneurs.
Formed by Jamie Bennett in 2010, the company recently finished a £1million investment into new premises in Aberdeen’s West-end. It completed its first deal last year with a seven figure commitment in Operational Excellence (OPEX) Group – a specialist company focused on helping operators produce more oil and gas.
Mr Bennett founded Atlas Interactive in 1995 - during the 14 years as CEO he created a global business, delivering products and services across 30 countries. Atlas Interactive was sold in 2007 and Mr Bennett exited the company in 2009.
Enerco Venture is focused on investing in carefully selected SMEs in the oil and gas sector with innovative emerging technology, products and services that have the potential for international growth. The company has an advisory board of entrepreneurs and senior figures from the industry. Jamie Oag, founder of OPTIMA Solutions is also an executive director and brings considerable entrepreneurial expertise.
Mr Bennett, chairman and CEO, said, “It was incredibly rewarding to build a company from start-up, to a business that changed the market on a fairly large scale - I’ve gained valuable entrepreneurial experience which, I now want to use in assisting companies with the potential to change the market and further advance the oil and gas industry.”
Enerco Venture’s focus in the short-term is on technology-driven, Scottish-based businesses that operate in the oil and gas sector.
Mr Bennett continued: “Enerco Venture strives to bring a fresh perspective and a passion for building extraordinary companies using an investment model that not only focuses on providing independent financial support but utilises the vast range of entrepreneurial skills and industry experience that exists in the company. Our particular interest is in innovation and commercialising technology both in the UK and overseas and our ethos is to take a hands-on approach from investment to exit.”
