Expro has officially taken over its new multi-million-pound base in Ulverston, England, which is home to the company’s world-renowned Tronic products division. The keys will be handed over on Monday (27 April) to signal the construction phase completion.
The custom-built 45,000 square metre site in the Low Mill Business Park will consolidate Expro’s Connectors & Measurements operations in Ulverston which are currently spread over three sites. The building itself has been constructed by Eric Wrights Ltd to exacting standards overseen by Merchant Developments and Michael Eyres Partnership.
The move coincides with the 30th anniversary of Tronic products, which are market-leading high integrity subsea power and data connection systems used throughout the global subsea oil and gas industry.
Consolidating in a single, multi-functional location will bring major logistical benefits to customers and the wider sector. With a production area the size of a football pitch, streamlined manufacturing processes have been developed to reduce lead times and allow a total focus on quality.
The entire facility features an advanced climate control system which will remove dust and moisture from the air, ensuring a focus on product reliability. It will also maintain a constant temperature and humidity, again, ensuring that the standard of build quality and consistency is not compromised. The system also provides adjustable and comfortable working conditions for all the team regardless of the outside weather conditions.
Sustainability and the environment are key elements for Expro and, as such, the site will employ rainwater water harvesting technology and solar heating.
Mark Jones, general manager of Expro Connectors & Measurements, said: “Handing over the keys is a significant milestone in the history of Expro’s Tronic products. Over the last 30 years, we have built up a world-class business as a leading manufacturer and supplier of reliable subsea connection systems. Now we will have a base to truly match our capabilities and reputation.
“The significant investment in our new premises will not only benefit customers, with improved efficiency and working practices, but also our employees with a modern working environment tailored to their needs. I am confident the site will be a great success and help the company continue from strength to strength.”
