Global testing company Exova has signed a 3-year framework agreement with Saipem, the global oil and gas services provider, to provide a full range of testing services primarily for the company’s Italian operations.
The GBP 8.5 million contract, which extends a long-standing relationship between the two companies, will see Exova conduct a range of oil and gas testing services, including mechanical, fracture mechanics, corrosion, weldability, SEM, coatings, chemical analysis and environmental testing.
In order to deliver the full scope of Saipem’s requirements, Exova has invested more than GBP 190,000 in specialist equipment at its Italian laboratories, including a 1200-kN tensile frame and specialist and bespoke fixtures to expand capabilities, including single edge notched tensile (SENT) testing capability in sour service.
Murray Gilder, director of oil and gas and industrials at Exova, comments, “We are committed to providing the most technically demanding services to all of our customers. Our relationship with Saipem, built over thirty years working with them in Europe, brings an in-depth understanding of their specific needs. By recognising the challenges of innovations and advancements in the oil and gas sector, we are continually investing in our services and capabilities to maintain our status as a trusted partner.”
