Exillon Energy says that well EWS-16 and well EWS-391 have successfully found oil on a northern extension of the EWS I field and on a north-western part of the East EWS I field.
EWS - 16
The EWS-16 well, which was spudded on 25 December 2010, was drilled in 19 days on a northern extension of the EWS I field on a turn-key contract for a total consideration of $ 0.8 million. The well flowed water-free oil with a flow rate of 370 bbl/day. Whilst the average net oil pay within the EWS I field according to the Miller and Lents May 2010 reserves report is 5m this new well has 17 m of net pay within the Jurassic, making it the thickest Jurassic net oil pay encountered within the EWS I field to date. The well reached a target depth within the Jurassic P reservoir at 1823 m.
The well was drilled directionally 975 m to the north from the existing well pad, and is now being connected to the existing production facilities.
