Eni started production from Marimba North field, located deepwater at some 145 km off the coast of Angola.
The Marimba North field, a tie-back to the Kizomba A development field, is located in the Block 15 at a water depth of some 1,300 meters.
Eni takes part to the project through its subsidiary Eni Angola with a 20% stake. Other partners are Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited, an ExxonMobil subsidiary (Operator, 40%), BP Exploration Angola Limited (26.67%) and Statoil Angola (13.33%).
This oil start-up from Marimba North field, which holds estimated reserves for 80 million boe (barrels of oil equivalent), will add about 40,000 boe/day of peak production capacity to the existing Block 15 production.
The start of production of this field further strengthens Eni’s position in Angola where it has been present since 1980 and has an average equity production of some 135,000 boe/day.
