Aurelia prospect exploration drilling is to be performed by Scarabeo 8

The Petroleum Safety Authority, Norway, reports that Eni Norge – operator for production licence 226 in the Barents Sea – has been granted consent for exploration drilling in Aurelia prospect. The well is to be has the designation 7222/1-1.

Water depth at the site is 424 metres. Drilling is estimated to last for 58 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

Drilling is to be performed by Scarabeo 8 which is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the Moss CS 50 MkII design. The facility is winterised and is designed for working at water depths of between 70 and 3,050 metres.
