AWE Limited, the Operator of Permits L1/L2 in the Perth Basin, Western Australia, advises that as at 06:00 hours (6.00am) AWST the Waitsia-1 appraisal well was at a Measured Depth below Rotary Table (MDRT) of 2,931m and drilling ahead in a 8 ½ inch hole to the planned total depth of 4,050m, following the successful installation of 9 5/8 inch intermediate casing at 2,400m.
The Dongara Sandstone, a secondary target, was intersected at 2,743m MDRT as prognosed with elevated gas shows recorded.
The Waitsia-1 well was spudded on 14 May 2015 and is forecast to take approximately six weeks in total to complete. The well will be drilled vertically to its planned total depth of 4,050m MDRT and is designed to further test the gas potential of the Waitsia Field, comprising primary targets in the deep conventional formations in the Kingia and High Cliff Sandstones.
