Det Norske has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 2/1-15 in production licence 542 in the southern part of the North Sea using the Mærsk Giant mobile drilling facility.
The rig's position during drilling will be
■ 56° 52' 58,140" N
■ 03° 12' 47,534" E
Water depth at the site is approx. 70 metres.
The planned start-up is 1 August 2013 with a duration of 60 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.
Mærsk Giant is a jack-up mobile drilling facility owned and operated by the A.P. Møller-Mærsk Group.
The facility was built in Japan by Hitachi and completed in 1986. Mærsk Giant can operate in water depths of up to 107 metres and accommodates 87 people.
