DBR are currently putting together a 40 foot DNV 2.7-1 container generator set for a vessel owned by Jan De Nul Group. After delivery in Q3 2015, the customized generator set will be put into action on offshore trenching operations.
DBR will divide the standard container into three separate compartments – to hold the generator, switchboard and radiator components respectively. The generator room will also house an A-60 enclosure for the system’s built-in FiFi unit.
To provide the power, DBR selected a 16 cylinder Mitsubishi Marine engine, which is particularly suited for this type of application due to its ability to handle substantial step loads. A Newage Stamford generator, with IP44 protection for the marine environment, will produce the electrical power. Such a configuration of components will meet the latest IMO Tier II exhaust regulations.
