AMEC, the international project management and services company, has been awarded a £10 million engineering and procurement services contract by Petro-Canada Netherlands.

The contract, which highlights AMEC’s position as a global leader in the oil and gas services industry, is for engineering, design and procurement services for the De Ruyter development in the Dutch sector of the Southern North Sea.

“This award, which arises from AMEC’s design contract won in November last year, illustrates our capability to successfully execute a FEED phase for a field of this size and continue into the full field development,“ said Neil Bruce, Managing Director of AMEC’s oil and gas business. “There are many such fields across the world where challenging economics have prevented their development; and AMEC sees this project a step forward in unlocking their great potential.”

The De Ruyter development will include a steel gravity base structure and an integrated production deck topside. Gas export will be via a 33kms 8” diameter pipeline; crude oil will be exported by shuttle tanker.
