The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority has given Statoil consent to use the Scarabeo 5 mobile drilling facility for well intervention in well 34/7-A-10 H on the Snorre field.
Snorre – an oil field in the Tampen area of the North Sea – lies around 150 kilometres west of Florø. The field has been developed using two floating integrated production facilities, Snorre A and B, and one subsea template tied back to Snorre A. Production at Snorre began in 1992. Water depth at the site is 335 metres.
The activity is scheduled to begin in September and to last 22 days.
Scarabeo 5 is a semi-submersible drilling facility, built by Fincantieri in Genoa in 1990. It is registered in the Bahamas and classified by Rina/ABS. Scarabeo 5 was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in May 2003.
