Dales Marine, one of the largest privately owned ship repair companies in Scotland, has enhanced its portfolio by introducing two new services to support the growing needs of the shipping and offshore industry.
In addition to its capabilities for working in ship repair and maintenance, mechanical engineering, steelwork fabrication and vessel mobilisation, the company will now offer lay-up and dock hire services from its key locations across Scotland.
Dales Marine will run the lay-up service providing a package of cost-effective services including inspections, risk assessments, dehumidification of corrosion prevention, engine start and run and draining of cooling systems to accommodate ships in hot and cold lay-ups.
The company believes this new service will be particularly welcome in the current climate for ship operators and managers, who wish to retain their vessels in a standby operational mode, ready to re-enter service when required.
Kevin Paterson, Project Manager at Dales Marine, says, “We considered this to be the ideal time to launch our new offering, following the increased demand for cost-effective ship operations and efficient lay-up options. The introduction of our lay-up service will provide clients with an affordable and adaptable solution for docking vessels in the North Sea. The launch of this service is part of our initiative to help the current market. Our service goes beyond just docking vessels, but will provide clients with a complete plan in which they can protect and maintain ships whilst they are not in use. This will allow our clients to mobilise swiftly when required and will reduce operating costs.”
Consisting of three flexible dry dock facilities, equipped to offer dry and wet working conditions, Dales Marine’s will also offer dock hire services to its clients. This service will be available 24/7, with a variety of environments available to replicate subsea conditions.
