DeepOcean Ghana Limited has been awarded a 3-year firm contract to provide the multi-purpose construction vessel Polar Onyx to Tullow Ghana Limited.
DeepOcean Ghana Limited, an indigenous Ghanaian company in which DeepOcean holds a 49% shareholding, commenced its working relationship with Tullow Ghana in February 2015 when it mobilised the Rem Forza to undertake multipurpose construction activities on Jubilee and TEN which continued until late 2016. Meanwhile, early 2016 DeepOcean Ghana secured with Tullow Ghana a long term LCV contract for the Dina Star for 3 years and 2 optional years. The Polar Onyx is now replacing the Dina Star with some overlapping period in Q1 2018. This allows the Polar Onyx to continue working with Tullow Ghana to provide inspection and light well intervention services on Tullow’s Jubilee and TEN fields continuing until March 2021.
Henk van den IJssel, DeepOcean‘s MD Africa and representative of DeepOcean Ghana’s senior management says, “We are very pleased that with this new contract we have the opportunity to increase the scope of work we are undertaking offshore Ghana for Tullow. The Polar Onyx is chartered from GC Rieber Shipping for the full contract duration, including further options. DeepOcean Ghana’s commitment to local content has been and will remain the key element of our contracts. We continue to demonstrate this through our use of local crew and in-country services, including Ghanaian ROV pilots and engineering support. The working relationship and track record developed with Tullow Ghana over the last 3 years has been the solid basis for this new award, whereby we will grow DeepOcean Ghana further to become an independent Ghanaian offshore marine contractor.”
Ottar K. Mæland, DeepOcean’s CEO says, “We are truly grateful for this award and the continued vote of confidence from Tullow Ghana. We are very much looking forward to continue and grow our relationship as Tullow Ghana’s provider of life of field subsea services together with our local partner in Ghana and GC Rieber Shipping.”
