ConocoPhillips has picked the high-tech offshore construction vessels and tight-knit sub-sea engineering teams of Technip to install the planned water-injection wellhead at the Ekofisk Ekofisk field offshore southwest Norway.
Technip has won a a lump-sum contract for the Ekofisk VA injection project in block 2/4, where the installation, tie-in and commissioning of subsea facilities between existing facilities and a new eight-well injection template mark the start of a long renewal planned at the field.
Procurment and the installation of spooled flowlines and umbilical from ConocoPhillip’s coiled product supplier is included in the work order. So are the design, fabrication and installation of protection covers plus tie-in and commissioning.
Ekofisk is Norway’s oldest oilfield and set to last at least two more decades after a major overhaul of production systems already underway. A special report on Ekfofisk modifications appeared in a 2008 edition of Scandinaviani Oil-Gas Magazine.
The detailed design and the other equipment will be provided by ConocoPhillips.
Offshore installation is scheduled for 2009 by several vessels, including Technip’s new-build diving support ship the Skandi Arctic.
