CNPC Agrees to Buy Kazakhstan Oil-Spotlight

On December 24, CNPC signed a 30-year natural gas purchase and sale agreement in Rangoon with the operation consortium of Myanmar's offshore blocks A-1 and A-3, which consists of Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise, South Korea's Daewoo International, ONGC Videsh Limited and Gail (India) Limited.

Under the agreement, which cements a preliminary deal reached in June, pipelines will be constructed to export natural gas from Myanmar to China's Southwest provinces. Myanmar will also be able to tap the pipeline running across its territory to promote economic development once the gas starts flowing, which is expected to happen in 2013.
