Statoil UK (Ltd) and CHC Helicopter have celebrated the inaugural flight to the Mariner field, Statoil’s first operated field development on the UK continental shelf (UKCS).

The flight left CHC’s Aberdeen Airport base this week heading for the Mariner B Floating Storage Unit (FSU).

CHC’s regional director Mark Abbey says, “We’re proud to partner with Statoil to support operations in the Mariner field. With extensive experience of the North Sea environment our pilots, engineers and support teams look forward to providing a safe and reliable service for years to come.”

CHC will initially be operating one Sikorsky S-92 aircraft, to support the Mariner B, and the Noble Lloyd Noble jack up rig which is due to be on location later this year. Support will increase to two S92 aircraft during the main hook up and commissioning phase from mid-2017.

The contract, awarded in 2014, has a duration of five years, plus an extension option for up to three years to support the Statoil operated Mariner field, located 250 kilometres off the north east coast of Scotland.
