Singapore-listed Vard Holdings Limited (VARD) announces that the surveillance vessel “Marjata” was named at the yard Vard Langsten in Norway, by the Norwegian Prime Minister, Mrs. Erna Solberg.
• The new vessel, named “Marjata”, replaces a predecessor by the same name, also built at Vard Langsten and in operation since 1995
• The vessel is one of the most technologically advanced of its kind in the world, and was contracted by the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation in 2011
• It will be delivered in 1Q2015, and will enter operative service for the Norwegian Intelligence Service in 2016
• The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defence, Mrs. Ine Eriksen Søreide, and high-ranking representatives of the Norwegian Armed Forces and Norwegian Intelligence Service
