AWE’s Pecten East-1 starts drilling

AWE's Pecten East-1 well started drilling operations on June 23, 2008 and was reported as drilling ahead at a measured depth of 310 meters.

Pecten East-1 is the first of a three well exploration and development program in VIC/P 44, located in the offshore Otway Basin.

The Pecten East prospect is located approximately 15 kilometers north of the productive Casino gas field and is 11 kilometers from the coastline. The well is being drilled in a water depth of 59 meters and has a planned total measured depth of 1,943 meters.

Pecten East-1 is the first well in the current drilling program, which will target additional gas reserves in the offshore Otway Basin. The Netherby-1 exploration well and the Henry-2 development well will follow immediately after Pecten East.
