Australian Worldwide Exploration Limited says that Edward S. Smith has resigned as a non-executive director of AWE, effective immediately. His resignation comes after recent ill health.

Eddie has been a Director of AWE since January 2000 and was important in the early stage development of the business. Eddie was the Chairman of AWE's Operations Risk Committee and also a member of the Remuneration Committee.

The board, management and staff of AWE wish Eddie all the best in his recovery and his future endeavours.
