Offshore marine and engineering consultancy Aqualis Offshore has been contracted by A2SEA to perform engineering consultancy services for its offshore wind farm installation work at the Horns Rev 3 wind farm offshore Denmark.
Aqualis Offshore’s London-office will provide structural site assessments at the locations where A2SEA’s SEA INSTALLER jack-up vessel will install 49 MHI Vestas 8.3MW wind turbines. Contract value is undisclosed.
“We have recently supported A2SEA and its vessel SEA INSTALLER with similar scope of work at the Race Bank and the Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm in the UK. The A2SEA installation team is very knowledgeable and experienced, so we are very pleased that they would like our support in Denmark too,” says David Wells, CEO of Aqualis Offshore, which is part of Oslo-listed Aqualis ASA.
The Horns Rev 3 wind farm has been established within an 88 square kilometre area, 29–44 kilometres west of Houstrup Strand on Jutland’s west coast. The water depth is between 10-21 metres. The offshore wind farm will consist of 49 wind turbines with a total capacity of 406.7 MW, which can generate power equivalent to the annual consumption of 425,000 Danish households. Vattenfall is the operator of Horns Rev 3.
A2SEA provides offshore wind transport, installation and service solutions. A2SEA is owned by DONG Energy and Siemens Wind Power.
