Amerisur provides operations update at Platanillo

Amerisur Resources Plc has provided an update on the long-term testing at its Platanillo block.

The separator and gas flare system have been installed and commissioned at the Alea location, and well Platanillo-2 began production testing in line with the approved long-term testing program on August 5th. The well is currently producing 70 BOPD, 0% base sediment and water (BS&W) in natural flow through a 10/64" choke with 260psi of well head pressure.

Alea-1R, which was re-opened on July 27th, continues in production testing with oil also being received into the newly commissioned facilities.

Both wells are currently stabilizing, after which the simultaneous testing program will commence. The Company looks forward to updating further progress on the testing in due course.

The Company is Operator and has a 25% working interest in the block, alongside Ecopetrol (40%) and Repsol YPF (35%). The 14,204 hectare block is located in the Putumayo Basin, close to the Ecuadorian border and approximately 25km from the nearest town, Puerto Asis.

The Platanillo block has existing contingent and prospective resources with the Alea discovery, and has been explored by three wells – Alea-1, the original discovery well drilled in 1988 and the two new wells Platanillo-1 and Platanillo-2, drilled in the latter part of 2007 by Amerisur and partners.
