2G Robotics has announced it has been selected to supply AUV-based laser scanning, stills imaging, and illumination solutions for HUGIN AUVs to be delivered to the Royal Norwegian Navy. As part of this relationship, 2G Robotics is looking forward to being involved in the upcoming, state-of-the-art mine countermeasure project and would like to congratulate Kongsberg Maritime and the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) on their latest agreement for the delivery of four complete HUGIN AUV systems.
2G Robotics’ dynamic underwater laser scanning solution will be integrated into four HUGIN AUV systems and will assist with the detection, classification, and assessment of mines by combining accuracy with real-time data acquisition. 2G Robotics will be supplying the following products:
- ULS-500 PRO – Dynamic underwater laser scanner providing high-density point cloud data at up to 20-metre range and 4,500 m depth.
- SeaShot Imager Stills Camera – Ultra-sensitive stills camera producing crisp images at up to 12 fps on fast moving vehicles.
- SeaShot LED Panel – Illumination package designed specifically for AUV integration based on 2G’s standard SeaShot LED technology.
The point cloud results captured from 2G’s underwater laser scanners on Hugin platforms over the past several years have demonstrated the capacity of the ULS-500 PRO to become the industry standard for high-resolution subsea survey. By developing the technology specifically with the intention of AUV integration, 2G Robotics has been able to take advantage of scientific advances to create a reliable platform for automated surveying.
