Statoil and partners in North Sea Gassled pipeline system operated by state-entity Gassco have approved up to NOK400 million ($65.4) for a compressor upgrade at the Kaarstoe plant north Stavanger for more gas to Europe.

While MW Kellogg in London will do the detail and “pre-engineering”, at least one contract award will go out this year ahead of a planned construction start late in 2007, or early 2008. Later that year, more upgrades will begin once the compressor is in place, estimated by Oct. 2008.

Dornum in Germany is in store for more gas from Europipe II as a result of more pressure at Kaarstoe.

Statoil is technical service provider for the Kårstø complex owned by Gassled.
