Echidna 2D Seismic Survey Ireland
Searcher Seismic in cooperation with MAGE, is pleased to announce acquisition of the Echidna Regional Broadband 2D seismic survey covering the Porcupine & Slyne Basins and the Goban Spur offshore Ireland, is now complete.
Comprised of approximately 9,100 km of high quality, long-offset broadband 2D seismic data, the Echidna survey is the first truly regional, long-offset well tie survey over the Irish Continental Shelf using modern processing and acquisition techniques.
Data is available in both time and depth, with fast track PSTM data being processed in time for evaluation of the 2015 Atlantic Margin bid round closing in September. Final data delivery is expected in March 2016.
Jan Gunnar Opsal, Norway Country Manager for Searcher Seismic, said significant input went into the design of the Echidna survey to ensure the survey was complementary to the recently acquired ENI-PAD data.
“Thirty E&A wells, which is approximately 80% of wells drilled in the area, are tied by the Echidna 2D survey”.
“The rift systems associated with these basins are among the most interesting exploration targets in the North Atlantic and we are confident the Echidna survey will provide a solid foundation for evaluation of the area, Mr Opsal added.
